Mick de Haas
Mick cut his teeth at his father´s advertising agency during the school holidays in Holland. His two elder brothers eventually joined their father´s business, but Mick chose to further his career in Dusseldorf, London and in Brussels working for Burson-Marsteller. This gave him advertising, exhibition and PR experience with such diverse clients as Avon Cosmetics and the Government of Argentina.
In 1978 Mick was asked to join West Nally, the then leading international sports marketing company, as Client Services Manager working for companies such as Monsanto, Astroturf, Polaroid, KLM, Seiko, Canon, JVC, the Coca-Cola Company, General Motors, Metaxa and Gillette.
Event management and sponsors co-ordination were part of his brief at events such as the European Championships in Italy, the Gold Cup in Uruguay, the African Nations Cup, and the World Cup in Spain.
1980 to 1984 saw Mick at Canon Europe in Amsterdam where he developed a European Sports Programme and co-ordinated their World Cup sponsorship. Mick also initiated the highly successful partnership between Canon and the Williams Formula One Team.
Mick was then approached by the Guinness PLC to develop a worldwide sport marketing strategy and sponsorship capability. After a year he exchanged his employment contract for a consultancy agreement and created MdH Communications Limited.
Having worked in most western European countries, Mick is not only multilingual, but has indepth knowledge of all the different ways in which each market operates.
