Since 2007 the Formula 1 cars of the Renault team wear the colours and name of ING. In search of a global sponsorship programme ING approached Mick in 2005. What followed was an extensive evaluation of the bank’s sponsoring progamme, at that moment predominantly focussed on Marathon. Mick and his professional team went through an intensive process of research, meetings and proposals, which lead up to meeting the 3 top-team captains of Formula One at the end of 2006. By making use of Mick’s network and an excellent combination of his strategic advise and planning, this resulted in the contract with the F1 team of Renault.
